Meet the Wet'n'Wild Color Icon Palette in Nude Awakening (Spring Forward 2013)
I went back home to NYC where I found the highly anticipated limited edition Spring Forward 2013 Wet'n'Wild 8 Pan Palettes in Nude Awakening and Going in the Wild (swatches after this post). They retail for $4.99 each at Duane Reade.
Instead of the regular black casing, they opted for an all over white with floral decals on the front. I feel that this simple switch automatically makes the packaging much more appealing.
Compared to the regular line, Nude Awakening has a little less pigmentation (still highly pigmented) but for a great trade off - less fall out. I don't experience nearly as much fall out when swatching these shadows and the shimmery shades don't crumble. This palette contains one matte shade (left crease), one satin (left browbone), and six shimmers/pearls. I found the left browbone to be a bit chalky and lacking in pigmentation and the right definer shade to be a bit patchy. The rest were fantastic.
The colors are highly reminiscent of the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette.
These are all 8 shades, 2 swipes each. First 4 are the left side; second 4 are the right side. The right side is considerably more pigmented than the left side.

A comparison between these shades, my other eyeshadows, and the Wet'n'Wild Comfort Zone palette will come within the week. Hope you enjoy!

Those colors remind me strongly of the eyeshadows included in the UD Naked palette! Gorgeous, and so cheap too!

Yes, I completely agree!! Too bad it's limited edition because I feel like it'd be one of the better UD Naked dupes, if not the best!
DeleteI've been on the hunt for this palette at my local drug stores but no luck yet. Would you say that the shimmery shades in this palette have very visible chunks of glitters in them like some other Wet'n'Wild shadows?
ReplyDeleteCompared to the other Wet'n'Wild shadows, yes, especially the two darker shades on the right. They have glitters that twinkle in the light. The other medium brown shades are moderately shimmery. Good luck searching for them (but I don't know if that changes your mind now)!
DeleteOh wow, that's amazing!!!!! They look BETTER than the shades in the UD palette in my opinion! xx

That's great! For only a tenth of the price!! I hope they get to the UK somehow!
DeleteI'm so jealous you got your hands on these Jane!!! I still haven't seen them in the Boston area yet :(

I love the shades and they do sort of mirror the UD Naked palette a bit... I wish that they could've amped up the pigmentation on the really light shades a bit, but still well worth it for the price!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. The light shades fall behind the spotlight of the darker shades but nothing beats paying $5 :)
DeleteI want this so badly, but I'm on a no buy :( looks like a great affordable palette though! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud that you're keeping up with the no buy though!! You can always receive cosmetic gifts though right? That's always a loophole to consider!
Deletestill on the hunt for these but no luck! :(
