Sneak Peek: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders
As a makeup enthusiast, I'm always intrigued by "revolutionary" cosmetic ideas and products. I love the latest trend of light diffusing, skin softening powders. Even though I adore my Guerlain Meteorites (Teint Rose, Perles du Paradis), I sometimes wonder if the price tag matches the "barely there" effect. This is why I opted to buy the more highlighter-esque Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders over the more typical setting powder NARS Light Reflecting Powders (I might get that later on, who knows?) because it is supposed to be much more of a visible difference on the skin than its alternatives.
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders ($45, sephora.com) range in a variety of 6 different shades meant to mimic different lighting effects to slightly alter the skin's complexion. Some shades are more subtle all over powders (more like Dim light) while others are more pearlized and give a candlelight glow (more like Luminous Light). I only received these today in the mail so here are quick photographs and swatches prior to testing. I will do an in depth review, swatches, and comparisons later in the week after trying them out.
I will say this though: when swatching and comparing these to products I thought could be similar, Dim Light and Luminous Light are two truly unique products that, rest assured, will surely stand out in anyone's collection. I have nothing of the like.
(Above swatches two times each).

I can't wait for these to hit stores so that I can swatch and see which one fits me best. Both look pretty on your skin tone. :)

ReplyDeleteHow did it go? Did they work out for you?
DeleteI've been interested in Diffused and Luminous. I definitely won't be swatching them until my MU ban is over! :)
ReplyDeleteHow long is your makeup ban? I spoil myself too much so I need to seriously consider a ban. It seems too difficult though!
