Flower About Face Foundation in #6: Review, Application

I personally feel that foundation is the centerpiece of every cosmetic line - a good foundation can make a lasting impression of the entire makeup line. In the case of Flower Beauty, while the lip and eye products were disappointing, their foundation is quite remarkable.

It has such a beautiful natural finish and that's ultimately what sold me on the product. Even though it's expensive for a drugstore light coverage foundation, it makes your skin look healthy, fresh, and that you're not wearing foundation. This is the kind of foundation that NARS Sheer Glow should have been.

While the texture is a little thick, it doesn't cake onto the skin, cling to dry patches or blemishes, settle into pores, and doesn't feel oily. In the dead of the winter on my normal skin, it gets shiny around 5-6 hours but doesn't fade until 8 hours which is really impressive for how low coverage it is. I recommend this for those who with dry to normal skin types who want a light coverage, natural finish foundation that wear wells throughout the day and looks beautiful. Because of the thickness, I wouldn't recommend it for those with mature skin. I personally wish it had higher coverage (so that I don't waste more product building up the coverage) and mattified my skin better but I can't take points off for that as it is a preference thing.

**Shade 6 matches my NC25-NC30 well.

                                    Texture: Medium thickness
Pros: Wears for 8 hours but gets shiny after 5; beautiful natural finish; doesn't cling to dry
patches; isn't cakey; doesn't settle into pores
Cons: Light coverage (wastes foundation); expensive; gets shiny around 5-6 hours

    1. Yes, apparently the velvet lipsticks (white tube) in other colors are good; perhaps my negative reviews were just of the colors I chose! How unlucky!

    1. I try to do that as much as possible but it's quite annoying because I (tmi) can't touch my face or pick at it haha.

  5. I love that this comes with a pump. I hate when you have to pour foundation out onto your hand and/or sponge. I might check this out next time I am at Walmart

    1. I hate that too! One of the downfalls of the Revlon Nearly Naked foundation :(

  10. Thanks for the review! I haven't worn drugstore foundation in awhile, mainly because every single one I've tried managed to break me out, and I have normal to dry skin that never breaks out on its own. Only certain makeup or skincare gives me blemishes. I really want to try Flower Beauty though, I've seen the line at walmart but didn't pick up anything yet. This foundation and the powder foundation might be my first flower beauty purchases!

    1. Wow, that really sucks about the drugstore foundations. Few makeup products break me out let alone a large price range (lol!). I hear Walmart does have a good used cosmetic return policy so you should definitely try it!
